War crime in Amhara : Abiy Ahmed’s new year plan of killing civilians in Amhara,Ethiopia

In Ethiopia’s new year Abiy Ahmed continued heavy  drone strikes. In the Amhara region of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed forces drone strikes and military interventions have continued causing significant civilian casualties and heightened tensions. 


Recently intensified drone attacks killing civilians and destroying public resources. America Association of Amhara's a report from October 7th to 14th stated use of airstrikes and drone attacks were recorded in 6 cities (weredas).


These included North Mecha, South Mecha, Estie, Ibnat, Lay Gayint, Tach Gayint Woredas in the North Gojjam and South Gonder Zones. Airstrikes have been used in attacks in North Gojjam whereas drones were used for aerial surveillance in South Gonder.

According to Fano leaders and Journalist Belay Manaye ,dozens of civilians casualties reported.


Belay Manaye on his social media accounts reported:-  


October 15, 2024 a drone attack killed 5 civilians near to Mota town (34 km far from Mota town). 

October 14, 2024 an air strike in North Gojam (South Achefer and North Mecha woreda : Amharic ሰሜን ጎጃም ደቡብ አቸፈር እና ሰሜን ሜጫ) including one child civilians injured. 

A report from Ethiopian Human rights commission exposed the brutality the Amhara people facing in different parts of Ethiopia.


Besides drone strikes, the extra judicial killing of Abiy Ahmed forces normalised in the Amhara.  Prospertiy parties Ethiopian dictatorial regime forces continued killing civilians going door to door.


According to Amhara Association in America report : 


Civilian casualties were recorded in more than 13 woreda/city administrations across 7 zonal administrations in Amhara Region. These included Raya-Alamata, Wadla, Kombolcha, Kelela, Berehet, Bibugn, Dega-Damot, Jabi-Tehnan, North Mecha, South Mecha, Debre-Tabor, Lay Gayint and Gonder woredas in the North Wollo, South Wollo, North Shewa, East Gojjam, West Gojjam, North Gojjam and South Gonder Zones.”


In the irresponsible act of Ethiopian regime, In the recent drone strikes in the Amhara Region, public properties such as schools, health centres, kebele offices, farmers houses, continued to be destroyed. 



Human rights organisations and political analysts have raised concerns about the humanitarian impact of these drone attacks, which have reportedly killed and injured civilians in addition to targeting military forces. 


The 2019 Nobel peace prize winner Abiy Ahmed continued war crime on the Amhara people. World leaders and international humanitarian organization must continue push the regime and concerned bodies for civilian protection in Ethiopia.
