Amhara associations worldwide gathered for a united demonstration to expose and oppose the ongoing state sponsored Amhara genocide in Ethiopia.
The Amhara communities in London, Frankfurt, Washington DC, Seatle, Toronto, Alberta, etc., went out to the straights to condemn the killing of civilians using drone strikes and extra-judicial killing. The Amhara task force (ATF)
In recent months, reports have surfaced detailing the harrowing toll the war has taken on civilians. Thousands of civilians were reported killed in conflict-related incidents in Amhara. Many deaths were attributed to indiscriminate violence and targeting of non-combatants, with credible accusations.
Witness accounts describe airstrikes, ground assaults, and summary executions, leading to a large number of civilian casualties. Schools, hospitals, and homes have not been spared, raising concerns about potential war crimes. The use of heavy artillery and the bombardment of populated areas have forced countless people to flee, overwhelming local infrastructure and humanitarian organizations struggling to provide aid.
The injustice on the Amhara people under Abiy Ahmed administration left inexpressible. In response, the Fano have been resisting for the freedom and rights of the Amhara people.
For Amhara civilians, the war has led to a worsening crisis, with food shortages, lack of medical supplies, and a breakdown of public services. Many have taken refuge in makeshift camps, while others attempt to flee to neighboring regions or even beyond Ethiopia’s borders.
International organizations, including the United Nations, have expressed alarm, urging an immediate ceasefire and the protection of civilians. Human rights advocates continue to call for an independent investigation into alleged atrocities and war crimes, hoping to hold perpetrators accountable and provide some measure of justice for the victims. But, the world continue watching the suffering of the Amhara civilians without proper action.
