Drone strikes in the Amhara region, Besides civilian casualties, it caused destructions on infrastructures. Health professionals in affected areas report hospitals overwhelmed with casualties and inadequate medical supplies. Civilian infrastructure, like schools and farms, has also been impacted, highlighting the broader risks faced by residents under these military tactics.

War crimes in the Amhara region must be investigated by independent responsible bodies. The united nations (UN) and other stakeholders have to take action instead of denial of the ongoing Amhara genocide. Justice must be served for those civilians and affected families.

Local human rights organizations and international observers have condemned the lack of accountability and monitoring surrounding these operations, urging Ethiopian authorities to reassess their strategies to avoid civilian harm. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission has received reports of indiscriminate violence against civilians, including beatings and killings, further inflaming tensions in the region.

Abiy Ahmed forces have relied on aerial drones, a tactic previously used in the Tigray region, now extended to Amhara as part of a strategy to suppress resistance. Unfortunately, this approach has resulted in significant civilian harm, as drones often strike populated areas, leading to numerous deaths and injuries among non-combatants, including children and other vulnerable groups.

Critics argue that these drone strikes are exacerbating local grievances rather than addressing the underlying issues. Many in the Amhara region feel marginalized by the central government, and the indiscriminate nature of these strikes has only fueled anger and calls for greater autonomy. That is the reason behind Amhara Fano's resistance.

Analysts highlight that heavy-handed tactics like drone warfare are unlikely to resolve deeply rooted ethnic and political grievances and may, in fact, deepen regional instability in the long term. The growing humanitarian toll in Amhara echoes similar outcomes from Ethiopia’s drone campaign in other areas, underscoring the urgent need for a more balanced and accountable approach to conflict resolution.

For Ethiopia, the challenge remains finding a sustainable solution to ethnic and regional conflicts that avoids harm to civilians while addressing legitimate regional grievances, a goal many argue can only be achieved through inclusive political dialogue rather than military intervention alone.
